Baku
20 September 201
Like a cat, I have observed Baku life and wandered its streets.
There are so many levels and layers of this city to explore and I am only just getting to know a small part of it. In the old town, an UNESCO world heritage centre, there are mosques , minarets and mausoleums charting the city's historical past.
The central city area is a mixture of architectural styles incorporating the European influences reflected in the mansions of the 20th century oil boom. There are also London cabs - a unique purple colour.
I am definately getting to enjoy the atmosphere and diversity of the city. Although the life here is miles away from the traditional Azerbaijani traditions and culture of the villages, it is fascinating to see the distinct Asian / European mix with city life.
