Nakura
5 MARCH 2024
I travelled to Nairobi in an intercity shuttle minibus which stopped outside a perfect simple hotel in the centre of the city. The border crossing was smooth and efficient with a visa issued on entry for no charge.
In was wonderful to be back in Nairobi. It was five years ago that I was here with the last group of Project Africa students. Seeing the city through the eyes of a traveller without the responsibilities of young students allowed a wider perspective and a chance to wander further.
I travelled back to the base of the Project Africa in Nakura and Ndege, spending time reconnecting with old friends, students at the school and the staff. This involved a warm reunion with Elizabeth Ngumo - my mentor and the retired head of the Ndege Primary School.
