Oudane

Oudane is an ancient desert trading place and the site of the ruins of an old city. I loved exploring this site - totally alone amongst the ruins for the whole day.

The ruins are extensive and its very easy to imagine the importance of this site in the past. There were clear remains of houses, mosque, shops and streets with a large market area in the centre.

In the afternoon I hiked towards a nearby village to see the city from afar and discover the expanse of date aplm gardens laid out in this valley.

In the evening I was invited to a festival of music performed by the local women in a space in the old town. This was truly magical. Their coloured clothes flowed as they danced and drummed as the sun went town - a memorable evening.
