I have spent the last two nights sleeping in a yurt in the garden of a family in the town.
It's an amazing construction based around a wooden frame, cylindrical with a combed roof. The frame is then covered with felt sheets made from compacted goat's wool. The yurt is then decorated with amazing felted designs and hanging cords. The earth floor is covered with exquisit carpets made from wool too.During the day the top of the domb is left open to let in the air and light. At night it becomes really cozy and warm inside. Even when it rained heavily last night, the yurt remained dry and cosy. I now understand why these make such good homes and why they suit the lifestyle of the nomadic life.
