Sailing towards China

28 April 2012

This is definitely one of the best ways to travel from Japan to China. It's slow and leisurely and gives you plenty of time to prepare for your arrival. I have spent today out on the deck watching the scenery go by and the occasional boat. The other passengers are great and everyone is trying really hard to communicate in what ever language they can. I have been speaking very bad Japanese and some English. There is a whole bunch of Chinese medical students returning from an exchange trip in Osaka, a marathon coach from a college in Japan who is on his 120th trip on this boat and a group of Japanese travellers heading through China to Loa. These are just some of the fantastic people on board to spend time with. We've also been trying to learn some Chinese with varied success.

There's also plenty of time to read, eat the delicious Chinese food served on board and sneak into the onsen on the top deck.
