Tashkurgan

Today I went up to the Pakistan border with three other visitors.

We hired a driver and car to take us through the mountains towards the pass. It's wild in these parts and the snow is covering most of the mountain areas. You get a real sense of isolation and wonder how this road was every built. There is very little traffic along the road - a few trucks and an over night bus. The only other life is the occasional herd of goats and a yak or two. Tajiks are the people who live in this area. The older woman wear beautiful black embroidered hats covered with head scalves, when they visit town
