It's Friday and that means extensive prayers at the mosque

It's Friday and that means extensive prayers at the mosque here in the centre of Xining. I have never seen so many people praying in one place before. There wasn't enough room in the mosque itself so men were praying on the pavement, in the central section of the road and on the traffic island - a mini Mecca. Other than at pray time people are out and about enjoying the sunny clear skies and fresh mountain air. This is a real change from the murkiness of Shanghai and Xian.
